2012: A big year for Toyota
2012 is the year when the Toyota range expands into brand new territories, with the launch of no fewer than four new models that answer the developing needs of today's drivers. Take a glimpse of what's to come...

Prius Plug-in: the most efficient hybrid yet
2012 sees the Prius' latest evolution - the Plug-in hybrid. Like the standard Prius, it doesn't need to be plugged in, as energy from its regenerative braking system is stored and can be used to drive the car short distances in electric mode. But plug it for just 90 minutes, and its lithium-ion battery stores enough energy to take you up to 12.5 miles - cutting down on fuel consumption and C02 emissions.

GT86: Toyota's new sports car
Building on Toyota's heritage of fast, affordable sports cars, enter the Toyota GT86 - its new generation of driver-oriented sports car. This front-engine, rear-wheel drive coupé has a compact, aerodynamic exterior with a low bonnet and high rear haunches. A powerful, flat boxer petrol engine and six-speed manual gearbox combined with light weight and a low centre of gravity result in a lively, agile performance that's easy to enjoy.

7-seat Prius+
In 2012, Prius goes plural with the Toyota Prius+, the UK's first full hybrid seven-seater, bringing the benefits Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive to larger families. The Prius+ marks Toyota's first use of a powerful, compact lithium-ion battery in a standard hybrid, allowing the car to go further in electric mode. This plus the car's bold, sweeping styling and a low drag coefficient contribute to even greater fuel economy. Inside, a panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light and folding rear seats create extra space and flexibility.

Yaris Hybrid: compact and more efficient
Toyota is adding to its UK hybrid line-up in 2012 with both the seven-seat Prius+ and a new Yaris Hybrid. The supermini's light weight and compact exterior make it great for the stop-and-start of town driving. Equipped with a downsized version of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive, it can reuse captured brake energy to power the car in electric mode so reducing fuel consumption. Inside, the Yaris Hybrid is well kitted out and surprisingly spacious.
